Teaching
Rachel Smart teaches management, design management, design industry specific courses and professional practice. This teaching has been predominantly in London at Master's level.
Courses at the University of the Arts London include MA Design Management and MA Enterprise Management for the Creative Arts at London College of Communication; MA Design Management for the Fashion Industry and MA Fashion Entrepreneurship at London College of Fashion. Rachel supervises some students each year with their research dissertations.
Design and business is further combined through the supervision of student projects between designers and business schools, or business schools that infuse design within their syllabus. A final year elective course - Design Management in Practice – is delivered at Regent Business School as part of a BA International Business and Rachel has previously taught at Zollverein School of Management and Design in Germany which provides a specialist MBA programme geared towards the incorporation of design within business strategy.
Occasional teaching takes place at other institutions including Birkbeck School of Management, University of London and the University for the Creative Arts.
