Designer makers

Designer-makers work ranges from one off pieces, limited editions or batch production selling in a number of ways from museum collections, collectors, specialist galleries, retail, direct sales and bespoke commissions. The materials and methods are fascinatingly diverse including hot glass, blacksmithing, warm glass, saddle making, weaving, knitting, basketry, goldsmithing, silversmithing, printing, lamination processes, ceramics, or combinations of materials and processes. Many makers also collaborate and consult with industry as specialists in material understanding and form.

Rachel has worked with a specialist organisations supporting the craft sector since 2002 including Arts Council, Craft Central and the Crafts Council (Next Move, Development Award, Injection and Hothouse). She redeveloped and ran Craft NI's making it scheme 2012-2013.
